ALPACA - HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO OTHER FIBERS PDF Print E-mail
This presentation takes a closer look at alpaca fiber in comparison to other luxury fibers by evaluating the similarities and/or differences in fiber structure and characteristics.

Utilizing factors such as Fiber Diameter (micron),
Scale Height, Thickness/Frequency/Pattern, Medullation/Kemp/Guard Hair, Staple Length/Style/Character, Reflectivity/Lustre, Natural Impurities and Yield, we will present data and SEC photos to help you understand why alpaca and cashmere are different as well as why alpaca and angora rabbit are similar. Comparisons include huacaya and suri along with a wide variety of "luxury" fibers such as qiviut, bison, mohair, angora rabbit, cashmere, merino, and others. Actual samples of most fibers used in the comparisons will be on display for you to handle.
